Charitable Organization "Charity Fund "Medical Aid Committee in Zakarpattya" together with the Uzhhorod branch of the Transcarpathian Regional Employment Center (TREC) held an online workshop "Active employment programs offered by the employment service for internally displaced persons".
The event brought together several dozen people from the target audience from across the region, including residents of temporary accommodation facilities for IDPs. Important questions regarding employment opportunities in the region and legal aspects of social protection for displaced persons were answered by Yevheniia Melesh, a lawyer of CAMZ, and Yosyf Kazhmir, director of the Uzhhorod branch of the TREC. The discussion focused on active employment programs for both job seekers and employers, opportunities for microgrants to start or develop a business, and employment programs for combatants and their families. The participants also discussed the specifics of employment for people with disabilities, new developments in relevant legislation, and other issues.
As Yosyf Kazhmir emphasized during the workshop, the state is creating new opportunities for employment and job creation that really work. Most services are already available online, so applications can be submitted quickly and conveniently.
This is the second similar event for internally displaced persons. The first one took place in January this year at our shelter in Uzhhorod. It became clear then that the issues of finding jobs and employment in general for new community members are quite relevant, and therefore there is a need to expand the audience for the dissemination of useful information.
"Most of the Committee’s activities are aimed at providing comprehensive support to the war-affected population. Among other things, we are consolidating efforts to integrate IDPs into communities that have become their temporary, but still new, homes. The services offered by the Employment Center are in high demand here, so we support effective communication, which is reflected in socially important events. I am confident that informing and providing quality advice to the population is the way to improve citizens’ ability to organize their own employment, find a job, or even a new relevant profession", said Yevheniia Melesh.
Medical Aid Committee in Zakarpattya, like the institutions maintained by the organization, is open to activities aimed at supporting vulnerable groups of the population, including information activities. This approach contributes to the better adaptation of IDPs in the region and their socialization in a new professional environment.
The event was held as part of the project "Improving the Protection of Children in Emergencies in Ukraine by Providing Safe Shelters, Food and Non-Food Items, and Psychosocial Support", which is being implemented by the Charitable Organization "Charity Fund "Medical Aid Committee in Zakarpattya" with the support of "terre des hommes Deutschland e.V." and funding from the German Federal Foreign Office.
