August 7, an extended meeting of the Organizing Committee of the international scientific-practical conference on “Current Issues of a Development of the System of Provision of Educational, Social, Medical, Habilitation / Rehabilitation Services to Persons with Disabilities” took place on the basis of the Medical Aid Committee in Zakarpattia.
The discussion was joined by members of the Medical Aid Committee in Zakarpattia; Ivan Myronyuk, Dean of the Faculty of Health and Physical Education of Uzhhorod National University; Mykhailo Petrishka, Director of the Department of Social Protection of the Population of the Transcarpathian Regional State Administration; Deputy Director of the Regional Center for Comprehensive Rehabilitation; Iryna Roshkovych, Head of the Early Intervention Department; Zhanna Tsinyk, representative of the Parents for Early Intervention Platform, member of “Nadiya” Parental NGO; as well as foreign co-organizers: Eric Hoencamp, psychiatrist, member of Parnassia Group, professor at Leiden University; Petra Munen, head of Acute Admission Department of Parnassia Group (Hague), nurse; Eric Bloemkolk, director of the SOFT Tulip Foundation.

This year conference differs from similar scientific and practical events. Along with the experience exchange, participants will jointly develop a consolidated vision of further state deinstitutionalization strategy, protection of the rights of persons with disabilities, and tolerant society. The format of the conference includes the study of key and problematic issues of the industry within round tables and panel discussions.

The scientific-practical conference will start the year of deinstitutionalization in Ukraine – a key process in reforming of public orphanages, as well as raising the issue of implementing early intervention services. We would like to remind that Zakarpattia is one of the seven regions where this service has begun to develop actively.
