​Despite the quarantine restrictions that prevented the implementation of a number of spring plans of the Medical Aid Committee in Zakarpattia, our team continues to work and implement joint humanitarian and educational projects with its partners. We are talking about online participation in expert discussions, scientific conferences, etc.

In particular, the director of CAMZ Nataliya Kabatsiy and a member of the Committee Lesya Levko took part in an international conference on topical issues of modern medicine, where they presented the results of the qualification study "Strategic approaches to the formation of a system of institutional care and education at the regional level".

It was noted that despite Ukraine's participation in the implementation of the WHO Global Plan "Better Life for People with Disabilities" for 2014-2020, the domestic system of rehabilitation care, assessments of the state of limited ability to perform daily living activities do not meet international requirements.

However, in August 2017, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine adopted the National Strategy for Reforming the System of Institutional Care and Upbringing of Children for 2017-2026 and the Implementation Plan for its first stage. The main goal of the strategy is to deinstitutionalize the system, i.e. to create such conditions for children, under which the need for boarding schools and orphanages simply disappears. It is a matter of a consistent reform of the current system, ensuring the rights of children in the local area and forming a system that will provide accommodation, care, and upbringing of children in families or conditions that are as close as possible to the family ones.

The Medical Aid Committee in Zakarpattia has been working for a long time on the areas that have been enshrined in the Strategy. Since our charitable organization has some experience and opportunity to study the positive developments of European countries, we cooperate with government institutions to ensure that the best practices for socially vulnerable groups are reflected in key government programs.

We also continue to provide consulting and legal activities. Recently, the CAMZ lawyer Eugenia Melesh joined the discussion on the ratification of the Council of Europe Convention on Preventing and Combating Violence against Women and Domestic Violence. Within the framework of cooperation with the team of the Crisis Centre in Zakarpattia, our specialist, among other things, spoke about the essence and purpose of the Istanbul Convention.

Information and communication technologies have allowed the Medical Aid Committee in Zakarpattia to be effective even in conditions of limited logistics. We continue to be open in our activities and communication with like-minded people.
