November, the XVI Travelling Human Rights Documentary Film Festival Docudays UA will visit Uzhhorod. This year the most interesting documentary films will be seen in more than 220 cities and towns of Ukraine.

By asking “Allow the app to alter your consciousness?” this year’s Festival topic contemplates how our everyday lives, habits, and ways of communication have changed since the development of a digital technology. What new opportunities does it open for our exploration of reality? And, at the same time, what kind of threats related to control and information security is it hiding?

In Uzhhorod, the open cinema screenings and human rights events of the Travelling Film Festival Docudays UA will be held at the ILKO Gallery Art Centre (Uzhhorod, 28 Koshytska str.).

The movies start at 18:30 at the ILKO Gallery. After each screening, expert discussions will be followed by thematic discussions. For discussion topics and other interesting details follow the link!

Further, the festival will travel through the halls and auditoriums of Uzhhorod National University and schools of the city and region.

At the end of the festival, December 10, the travelling exhibition "Just them: STOP BULLYING" will be opened on the premises of the partner of the festival Smart Point Hub (Uzhhorod, 25a Shvabska str.).

In Zakarpattia, the partners of the festival are Charitable Organization "Medical Aid Committee in Zakarpattia" and NGO "Carpathian Human Rights Agency "Wested". The co-organizers: the Department of Education of Uzhhorod City Council, Law Faculty of Uzhhorod National University, Student Self-Government of Uzhhorod, Coordination Council of Young Lawyers at the Main Territorial Directorate of Justice in the Zakarpattia Oblast, Smart Point Hub, European Wildlife Society, T. Legotsky's Transcarpathian Regional Museum of Local History and others.

Mission

We create opportunities for every person in Ukraine to watch the most talented and present-day documentary films from all over the world. This contributes to development of critical thinking, creation of active citizen position, and appreciation of highest value of human dignity. By realizing our mission we promote popularization and development of documentary film and to increase of the level of respect for human rights in Ukraine.

The festival is non-political and non-commercial.

Docudays UA is the only international human rights documentary film festival in Ukraine. It is a member of the International Network of Human Rights Film Festivals. It takes place every year in Kyiv during the last week of March. Upon completion, Docudays UA traditionally presents the best films in the regions of Ukraine within the Travelling Festival. The screenings and discussions of the films with the participation of human rights experts run from October to December inclusively. Throughout the year, Docudays UA has been promoting author documentary in cinemas within the DOCU / HIT project. It develops young people's critical thinking in Docudays UA Media Education Human Rights Clubs. It introduces SEE UKRAINE cultural diplomacy project in Europe. It assists young Ukrainian documentary filmmakers with film production on the DOCU / PRO platform. Every year it releases a catalogue of new Ukrainian films for promotion abroad. The XVII Docudays UA will be held from March 20 to March 29, 2020, in Kyiv.
