Recently training on deinstitutionalization and introduction of new social services took place in Mukachevo on the basis of Mukachevo Orphanage.

Management, teachers, psychologists, medical workers of Mukachevo and Vynohradiv Orphanages took part in the training seminar. The trainers were Natalia Kabatsiy, director of the Medical Aid Committee in Zakarpattia, and Myroslava Skubenych, deputy director of the Regional Centre for Comprehensive Rehabilitation for Persons with Disabilities.

The main issues raised by the experts concerned the provisions of the National Strategy for Reforming the Institutional Care and Child Care System for 2017-2026, approved by the Government on August 9, 2017, and the Law of Ukraine on Social Services of January 17, 2019. This Law defines the basic organizational and legal framework for the provision of social services aimed at preventing difficult life circumstances, overcoming or minimizing their negative effects, to persons / families in difficult life circumstances.

Legislative innovations will be discussed at further meetings. The top priority for the regions at present is to approve appropriate plans for reforming the institutional care and childcare system, as well as to provide training for regional professionals to implement the aforementioned Strategy.
