Master class on weaving and joint activities planning for 2016-2020

26/05/2016

After the first spring master class in Vilshany, the Medical Aid Committee in Transcarpathia has decided not to have a long break. And already in May Barabara Schweingruber, expert on weaving was invited to conduct the second master class.

Thanks to Barbara the wonderful weaving workshop has been active at the center of "Parasolka" (Tyachiv) for the last 4 years. The wards constantly improve their skills and can weave almost perfectly! If in "Parasolka" it was managed to attract the wards to the weaving, so it is time for Vilshany to pass to a new level. The children together with the teacher Maria Ivanivna have weaved stair-carpets from the tissue long ago in the Vilshany Orphanage.

Now, they can improve their skills and pass to manufacturing the towels and napkins, bags and cushions. For this purpose, last year Barbara Schweingruber found and handed over the humanitarian aid included 2 weaving-machines. The work has become easier in comparison with a large machine.

Thus, in May 2016 Barabra Schweingruber arrived to Vilshany on the invitation of CO MACZ for several days accompanied by a member of the working group of the Association "Parasolka" Beata Gunciger. In the course of 3 days Barabra  at the support of the employee of CO MACZ Lesya Levko conducted a master class on weaving. The guest taught three orphanage teachers to work on the devices, to lay the foundation of future products.

Weaving mini-lathes as well as standard equipment develop fine motor skills, provide children's employment and satisfy their need to be useful. This is a painstaking task, here, one needs to consider all the details for the product to become pretty and neat.

Beata Gunciger arrived not for the usual support to Vilshany. In conjunction with the director of CO MACZ Nataliya Kabatsiy and Director of Vilshany Orphanage Bohdan Kykyna the opportunities for future collaboration to benefit the children's home had been discussed.

After inspecting the area, assessing the initial situation and what had been done in past years, the parties outlined the main directions for future work. Along with the material part improvement, renovations and development of employment, the work with the staff was marked to be important. In particular, it was said about advanced training.

Namely, the problem with staff, and, primarily, insufficient number of employees, remains to be key ones in the work of the orphanage. The decision was made to draw up and send to the relevant state agencies a request about reconsideration of the orphanage staff and provide additional workplaces for labor instructors.

The latter could work with the wards in order to  occupy their leisure time and thereby teach new activities. This would solve the problem of boredom overcoming and related with it aggression.

The Committee has worked and will work in future in favor of persons with disabilities and thanks to the Swiss partners for qualified professional support.
