"CURRENT ISSUES IN THE FIELD OF COMPREHENSIVE SERVICES PROVISION TO THE PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES"

Charitable Organization "Medical Aid Committee in Zakarpattya" in cooperation with the Swiss Association "Parasolka", the Faculty of Health Care and Physical Education of State Uzhhorod National University (SUNU), Department for Social Protection of Population of Transcarpathian Regional State Administration held the fourth international conference dedicated to the 9th anniversary of the Center "Parasolka" on September 19-21, 2018 in the town of Uzhhorod.

The issues were discussed regarding the system improvement of the comprehensive service provision based on the principles of the multidisciplinary approach to persons with disabilities. The plenary sessions were held in the conference hall of the State Uzhhorod National University", the sectional meetings (workshops) took place in the premises of the Faculty of Health Care and Physical Education of the SUNU.

The experts from Switzerland, France and Ukraine were invited to participate in the conference:

• Henny Graf – the specialist in correctional and pedagogical work with persons with disabilities
• Jost Thomas – the specialist in aggression prevention in persons with disabilities
• Brigitte Berthold – the physiotherapist, Bobat-therapy
• Susanne Codoni – the specialist in supported communication, communication techniques, speech therapy
• Ivan Mironyuk – the Dean of the Faculty of Health Care and Physical Education, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Associate Professor
• Slabkyi Hennadiy – the Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor, "Social Medicine"
• Romaniv Oleksandr – the head of the Department of Physical Rehabilitation, Ph.D. Medicine
• Clara Leimoni — the coordinator of Twinning Project

       and others

As a result of the conference, a number of issues were considered, namely:

• the characteristics of Ukrainian population disability
• the needs dynamics of the population from Transcarpathian region in palliative care
• the principles for conduct in cases of violence and aggression
• psychological comfort of persons with disabilities as a component of the rehabilitation effectiveness
• promotion in detection and early intervention for children with special needs
• physical therapy for persons with complex disabilities
• social and psychological problems in families of persons with disabilities
• communication and speech therapy, work with persons with disabilities

         Upon mastering a large theoretical part of the conference the participants were invited to participate in the sectional workshops. The practical work involved four sections being attended by the conference participants, teachers, students and all interested, namely:

–     Section No. 1 "Features of support organization for persons with disabilities";

–     Section No. 2 "Concept k-o-s-t ® (Body-oriented speech therapy) / Stimulation";

–     Section No. 3 " Prevention and work with aggression manifestations";

–      Section No. 4 "Modern physiotherapeutic practices in work with persons with disabilities".

The conference ended with the plenary meeting in the session hall of Transcarpathian Regional State Administration. The final report was presented by the Director of the Department of Social Protection of Population of Transcarpathian Regional State Administration Mykhailo Petrishko on the subject "Modernization social rehabilitation services provision to persons with disabilities in Transcarpathian region". At the final panel discussion, the conference organizers, speakers from both Ukraine and Switzerland, as well as the participants had the opportunity to sum up the results of the three-day event, discuss urgent issues and adopt a resolution before further implementation of the work aiming at improving the procedures for providing comprehensive services to persons with disabilities.
