As part of the project "Improving the Protection of Children in Emergencies in Ukraine by Providing Safe Shelters, Food and Non-Food Items, and Psychosocial Support", the Medical Aid Committee in Zakarpattya purchased injection ports for children with diabetes.
Unfortunately, this pathology in childhood requires constant therapy with insulin, which should be administered subcutaneously 4-6 times a day. Thanks to these ports, only one painless injection once every three days provides high-quality treatment and control of diabetes. These devices can be used not only for injections of ultra-short (short) insulin, long-acting basal insulin, but also for correction of sugars at high levels in the intervals between meals. Such assistance also eases the financial burden on parents, on whose shoulders issues of diagnostics, examinations and accompanying supportive treatment have fallen.
The purchased ports in the amount of 40 packs were transferred to the outpatient department of the Uzhhorod City Children’s Clinical Hospital and will soon be delivered to patients free of charge.
As a reminder, the project is being implemented by the Charitable Organization "Charity Fund "Medical Aid Committee in Zakarpattya" with the support of "terre des hommes Deutschland e.V." and funding from the Federal Foreign Office of Germany.
