Together with the NGO "Happy Children" (Uzhhorod), the Medical Aid Committee in Zakarpattya has devoted the summer to making children truly happy. The activities, which began in July, are part of a large project that the Committee is implementing with the support of "terre des hommes Deutschland e.V." and funding from the Federal Foreign Office of Germany.
The partnership with "Happy Children" was not accidental, as this NGO has been effectively engaged in the creative development of children, their leisure activities, and humanitarian assistance to families with children in need since 2013, often interacting with the MACZ in various social projects.
The active start of the new initiative is the involvement of more than 170 children in various areas of organizational activities, such as theatrical quest tours "Secrets of Ancient Uzhhorod" and day camps for children of primary school age in Uzhhorod and the highland Rakhiv district. An eco-tourism club for schoolchildren and a youth camp in the mountains were also launched in Rakhiv district. Along with the teamwork, psychological support is provided for teenagers in war conditions, mothers with children, and the "Care" program, aimed at rehabilitation, recovery and adaptation to life in the new reality for women and children affected by russian military aggression is also active.
In general, the project is designed for a year, according to the calendar plan of which the organizers have drawn up an extensive set of activities for children of all ages. Thus, in the future, it is planned to work with preschoolers by specialists in speech and language pathology, both individual and parent-child group psychological counseling, group art therapy sessions for women and children, day camps and excursion programs, an external independent evaluation preparation course for school graduates, as well as recreational weekends for women with children, including IDPs, military wives, and volunteers, etc.
At the same time, we emphasize that the large-scale project that the Committee is implementing with the support of "terre des hommes Deutschland e.V." and funding from the German Federal Foreign Office also includes a significant amount of work on the development of socially important infrastructure. And here, soon, repair and construction work will soon begin to replace the roof on the building housing the Tyachiv shelter for IDPs. As a reminder, back in the fall of 2022, the Medical Aid Committee in Zakarpattya purchased a building where internally displaced persons who ended up in Tyachiv due to russian military aggression lived.
