More than 600 processed requests, not even one was left without a response. This is briefly about the mode of operation and interactions of the Charitable Organization "Medical Aid Committee in Zakarpattya" during the month and a half of Ukraine's confrontation with the armed aggression of the Russian occupation forces. At the same time, it should be noted that in the first week, while reorienting our activities, we did not keep records, and worked on the "here and now" principle. Such efficiency became possible only by quick feedback from our friends and partners from Ukraine and form abroad.
We started by providing all the necessary things to the migrants from the “hot spots” of Ukraine. Blankets, mattresses, pillows, bed linen – first it was accumulated in the office, then naturally the need for storage occurred. Very soon our humanitarian cargo was taken over by the Delivery logistics company. Volunteers sorted food, hygiene products, clothing, bed linen and medicine there (the latter moved conseqyently to a separate warehouse). Briefly about the specifics of our activity: every morning our volunteers were surprised how they could disassemble, sort, pack and ship yesterday's “mountains”, and then they repeated the same feat again.
Logistics is an important aspect of the work of all volunteer headquarters. In our case, it is an international one and designed for long distances within the country. From sympathizing people in France, Switzerland, Austria, Germany, Italy, Slovakia, Denmark, Portugal, and Belgium, humanitarian trucks went to Uzhhorod, and from Uzhgorod – to Donbas, Kharkiv, Kyiv, Sumy, Zhytomyr, Zaporizhia, Odesa regions. In total, it is more than one hundred and a half directions to different settlements. We can add only one thing – our cargoes also reached those small Kyiv towns, the names of which are known all over the world today.
The current activities of the CO "MACZ" are equally aimed at helping the Defenders of Ukraine and citizens who were forced to leave their homes, running away from the war. We are constantly in contact with the military, other volunteer organizations, government officials, our assistants in the warehouse and drivers providing transportation. Another area of work is information. Realizing the impact of hostile propaganda and the need of the civilized world to receive verified data about events in Ukraine, we keep in touch with foreign journalists and accompany their stay in Zakarpattya.
"Along with the implementation of humanitarian missions, the Committee remains an active participant in joint activities of the authorities and civil society institutions to improve the conditions and quality of services for people with disabilities. We continue to support the activities of the Social Abilitation and Rehabilitation Centre "Parasolka", take care of the Vilshany Children Orphanage, and help resolve issues that have arisen in the region due to the arrival of vulnerable people from other regions of Ukraine. It is important to emphasize that close cooperation and constructive communication with our partners is an effective factor in the effectiveness of our work, both ongoing and additional in the context of martial law. We are sincerely grateful to all our friends for their help and prompt feedback! All of this is an invaluable geography of indifference to the struggle of the Ukrainian people for democratic ideals that are inaccessible and therefore incomprehensible to the enemy", said Nataliya Kabatsiy, director of the Charitable Organization "Medical Aid Committee in Zakarpattya".
We are pleased that in times when new urgent needs are constantly arising, the word "thank you" is not devalued, but the number of people ready to lend a shoulder, respond to a request, and sometimes just not to put up obstacles is growing every day. So we thank everyone and join forces for Ukraine’s victory!
